REDC PROVIDES TAX BENEFITS FOR HOMEOWNERS

For 2006, companies in the REDC’s Rockwall Technology Park generated over $1.4 million in property tax revenue (city, school and county) easing the property tax burden on Rockwall homeowners.

2006 PROPERTY TAX SAVINGS

The $1.4 million tax revenue saved Rockwall homeowners $70.42 in property taxes for 2006 on an average home value of $180,100.

A GROWING REVENUE STREAM

Since 2001, new investment in the REDC’s Rockwall Technology Park including buildings and business personal property grew from $5 million to $59 million, over a tenfold increase in five years.

REDC CREATES JOBS

Over 800 new jobs have been created in the Rockwall Technology Park from 2001 to 2006.

REDC PREPARES FOR FUTURE GROWTH

The REDC’s participation in the construction of public infrastructure totaled $7.6 million for the new Presbyterian Hospital of Rockwall fronting Horizon Road at Tubbs Road, The Harbor on Lake Ray Hubbard, and Justin Road from Townsend Drive to Industrial Boulevard. In addition, the REDC completed $1.8 million in infrastructure improvements on the east side of FM 549 in Phase II of the Rockwall Technology Park, with the extension of Discovery Boulevard, new landscaping and new water and sanitary sewer lines.

The Rockwall Economic Development Corporation (REDC) is a Section 4A corporation formed under the Development Corporation Act and funded by a one-half cent sales tax. With out-of-town visitors paying a substantial portion of the sales tax, the REDC’s budget is funded by both citizens and visitors to Rockwall.
