The RISD has 14,200 students, 1,550 employees and operates from a $100 Million budget.  The school district contains all or parts of Rockwall, Heath, Fate, McLendon-Chisholm, Rowlett and Wylie.

In calculating performance ratings, 25 subgroups of student performance are measured. This includes all five subjects tested, and the performance of all five student groups in each subject.

Out of the 25 accountability measures for the district:

• 19 Exemplary ( 90% to 100% of students met standard )
• 5 Recognized ( 80% to 89% of students met standard )
• 1 Academically Acceptable ( 70% to 79% of students met standard )
